It's Hip to be Square...
The use of the square format in visual art seems to be a purely twentieth century phenomenon. Around this time, painters first began to use the square canvas for abstract images, and in 1929, the square makes an appearance in photography with the introduction of the first Rolleiflex. Simple and elegant, this compositional format often includes more of a subjects surroundings than a standard rectangular format.
Below are some wonderful examples of the square format found here on dA. Enjoy!

Annyversaries are useful anyway, remembering special events strengthen the relationship to the subject.
I think I will celebrate the most important date in this field.. that is when I took my camera in my hands the first time.. that event was really special, 2nd of February, me and my teacher was out in a park, and I managed to take my first well-composed photo.. [link]
it turned out pretty quickly (by the end of the day) that I have more interest in looking for abstract elements, shooting rusty bars than capturing nature in its entirity.. well, sorry for being so chatty
I wish you all the great success in photography!
Important annyversaires are great!
